Abstract
Most retirees in the United States are not adequately prepared socially for retirement. Many will lose their sense of fulfillment after quitting the professional career they developed for many years. As life expectancy rises, this problem is expected to continue and grow.
This integrated project includes the development and validation of a new company: Reterns, LLC (“The Company”) and corresponding website to assist experienced, retired professionals connect with organizations for part-time work and part-time volunteer opportunities. The business model, initial prototype, and current financial projections have been developed. Interviews with experienced professionals have been conducted and a summary of findings is provided.
By exploring new opportunities and staying engaged in their communities, retirees will not only feel more socially fulfilled, but also help society. Organizations will benefit from the professional knowledge and skills accumulated over years of education and practice, provided by the retired professionals.
